Hershey’s is looking for a Fleet Safety Manager who can ensure that the fleet is meeting the distribution needs that the company relies on, and that all of our drivers are qualified, trained, and safely delivering ice cream to its destinations. This person will be responsible for managing a fleet of 250-300 non-CDL and CDL refrigerated and dry trucks across 32 branches throughout the East Coast and Midwest.
This list of Essential Duties and Responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Ø Drivers and Branches
•        Work with Human Resources and branches to qualify driver candidates for hire
•        Conduct driver training
o Pre- and post-trip inspections
o    Safe driving practices
o    Responsibilities as a commercial driver working within State & Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR)
•        Train personnel and monitor the use of telematics program
•        Ensure that all drivers understand and procure the licenses and permits they need to legally carry loads to customer destinations
•        Review FMCSA Portal and SMS sites to coach drivers, file DataQ’s, and notify branch managers of any new items
•        Handle disciplinary actions for accidents and DOT violations per Company Guidelines

Ø Safety and Compliance
• Manage telematics programs: driver usage, data alerts, navigation capabilities, etc.
• Manage vehicle incident reports, mitigate losses, and file claims when necessary
• Lead the accident review board for driver incidents, conduct all reviews, and communicate and document all outcomes
• Implement strategies to prevent fleet operations injuries, property losses, moving violations and vehicle accidents
• Work with HR, insurance providers, and other external organizations for continuous improvement of driver safety programs and training content.
• Manage and execute Driver Safety Award program
• Maintain compliance under FMCSA and SMS sites and to guide company policy and suggest programs to keep safety a priority among branches and drivers
• Oversight of Company drug and alcohol program
Ø Education and Experience Required
• Five years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).
• Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or, in lieu of that degree, a High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and one incremental year of relevant work experience
Ø Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
• Travel up to 75% required
• Experience managing a fleet telematics program
• Comprehensive knowledge of FMCSA and DOT safety and regulatory standards
• Strong knowledge of commercial trucks
• Ability to coach, train and mentor a team
• Ability to operate with various software packages such as the Microsoft Office Suite required.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Excellent skills in written and oral communication and time management and decisiveness required
• Process Improvement experience
• Valid Driver’s License
